The Nigerian international burst to public consciousness under the French manager and is looking to take his game to a new level under the guidance of the Italian gaffer
Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi has spoken of how proud he is to have played for two of the game’s finest tacticians in Arsene Wenger and Carlo Ancelotti.
Wenger, undoubtedly Arsenal’s greatest ever manager, handed Iwobi his first-team chance after the youngster – who joined the club as a nine-year-old – impressed for the Gunners youth sides.
Iwobi went on to feature in 149 games for the Londoners, contributing to 42 goals (15 goals, 27 assists) before completing a €30 million move to Everton in 2019.
The Nigerian international started working with former AC Milan boss Ancelotti when Everton appointed the three-time Champions League winner as their manager last December.
Ancelotti is looking to reinvent Iwobi as a right wing-back, and the 24-year-old says he trusts his manager the same way he trusted Wenger.
“The way they (Wenger and Ancelotti) trust their tactics is one of a kind, it’s almost like playing for the same manager,” Iwobi told talkSport as per TribalFootball.
“They both want the best out of their players, they give an opportunity to each and every player and the youngsters in cup games and use the whole squad, everyone is involved.
“It’s almost like playing under the same manager, and the accomplishments speak for themselves what they’ve been able to achieve.
“I’m lucky to play under both managers.”
Iwobi has featured 43 times for the Toffees, scoring thrice and assisting another three goals.
