Super Eagles attacker Victor Osimhen has reportedly agreed to a new release clause with Italian Serie A side Napoli, potentially setting the stage for a future transfer amid ongoing interest from top European clubs, Soccernet.ng reports.
Initially, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis had set a €130 million release clause for Osimhen following his outstanding performance in leading the club to the 2023 Serie A title.
However, this steep fee proved to be a major obstacle for clubs seeking to sign the Nigerian star from the Diego Maradona Stadium, as it would have required a record-breaking financial commitment.
Following a failed transfer move away from Naples, reports from Nigerian journalist Onyebuchi Onokala confirm that Osimhen has now agreed to a revised release clause of €75 million with the club.
Although Osimhen initially pushed for a €70 million clause, Napoli’s board proposed €90 million. Ultimately, Osimhen held firm and settled on the €75 million figure.
Additionally, the Super Eagles attacker has been heavily linked with a potential four-month loan move to Galatasaray and could be donning the colours of the Turkish club after the international break.
Reports circulating in the Nigerian media suggests that the Nigerian might be spending a season-long loan in turkey before heading for a permanent move to England if all goes well.
