Super Eagles next match: Chelle’s troops to face Russia, Ghana, and two others in June

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set for a busy international window in May and June, with matches lined up against Ghana, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, and Russia, Soccernet.ng reports.

Ghana recently announced the return of a four-team tournament scheduled to take place in London in May 2025, which would feature Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago.

The tournament, known as the “Unity Cup”, will see these four nations battle for supremacy in a series of competitive matches.

The first semi-final, set for Tuesday, May 27, will see Trinidad & Tobago take on Jamaica in what has been dubbed the TriniJam Clash.

On Wednesday, May 28, the Super Eagles will renew their fierce rivalry with Ghana’s Black Stars in the second semi-final.

The final round of matches will take place on Saturday, May 31, where the two losing sides will play for third place, before the final to determine the Unity Cup 2025 champions.

Nigeria will enter the tournament as two-time Unity Cup winners, but recent history favours Ghana, who secured a resounding 4-1 victory over the Super Eagles in their last London meeting.

Beyond the Unity Cup, reports suggest Nigeria could also face Russia in June as part of their preparations for future international commitments.

However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to confirm or comment on the fixture, which leaves the Nigeria football community awaiting official word on the potential clash.

With crucial fixtures on the horizon, Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, will have an opportunity to assess his squad again ahead of important competitive matches later in the year.
