Super Eagles star makes Alan Shearer’s Premier League TOTW

English Premier League legend has named Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey in his Team of the Week, following his performance in Fulham’s 3-2 win over Fulham on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.

Fulham produced a big performance on Sunday, beating Premier League leaders Liverpool 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

It looked like the Reds would stroll to a win after Alexis Mac Allister scored the opener for Liverpool in the 14th minute. But Fulham hit back with three goals from Ryan Sessegnon, Alex Iwobi, and Rodrigo Muniz in the first half.

Liverpool dominated the second half, but Fulham were very stubborn and held on to their lead, limiting them to one goal in the second half. Bassey put up a solid shift at the back, recording five clearances, three tackles, a 90% pass accuracy, and won six of his eight duels.

Recall that earlier, Soccernet.ng named the 25-year-old in our Premier League team of the week. Now, the all-time highest goalscorer in the Premier League Shearer has also named Bassey in his Team of the Week.

The other players on the team are Dean Henderson, Tino Livramento, Antonee Robinson, Daniel Munoz, Jake Murphy, Morgan Rogers, Brennan Johnson, Rodrigo Muniz, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Evanilson.

Calvin Bassey will look to end the campaign on a high with Fulham

Fulham’s win over Liverpool on Sunday took them to eighth in the Premier League standings, five points behind the UEFA Champions League spots and three points behind a UEFA Conference League position.

They still have some difficult fixtures in the coming weeks, and they will be banking on the defenders, including Calvin Bassey, to deliver the goods.

If Bassey has a good finish to the season, he could even get a move to a bigger club in the summer.
