Mikel Obi makes stunning admission about Osimhen’s potential move to Chelsea

Former Chelsea and Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has made a bold proclamation about his former side’s interest in Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Mikel, all season, has been advocating for Enzo Maresca’s side to bring in another striker to rival Nicholas Jackson and provide competition in attack.

The former Nigerian captain has also made it clear that Victor Osimhen should be the man to fill that void, as he’ll automatically turn Chelsea into title contenders because of his goal-scoring abilities.

“I’m still trying to get him to try to come to the club. I’m trying to press my buttons and see if we can get things done, hopefully, we never know,” the 2012 UEFA Champions League winner said as previously reported by Soccernet.ng.

While Osimhen is enjoying his loan spell with Galatasaray, Mikel has once again urged the Napoli loanee to fulfill his childhood dream of being Chelsea’s next Didier Drogba.

“It would be a great shame if we didn’t get this player who has been a Chelsea supporter since childhood and wants to play for us.

“His idol is Didier Drogba. He will want to break records, win titles, take us back to the top and beat Drogba’s record. That would be his goal.

“If Chelsea decides not to invest in him, sure. Good luck, but we can literally pick up the phone and get him in. We should,” the 2013 AFCON winner said on the Obi One Podcast.

Despite Chelsea’s flunctuating form in the English Premier League this season, the Blues are currently 4th, and are gunning for a UEFA Champions League qualification spot, which is an improvement from where they finished last term.
