Watch: Victor Osimhen shows displeasure at Zimbabwe draw, pushes Boniface away

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen was visibly upset following Nigeria’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo on Monday evening, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Napoli-owned forward had given Nigeria the lead in the 74th minute with a well-taken header from an Ola Aina cross, but Zimbabwe’s Tawanda Chirewa stunned the home crowd with a late equaliser in the 90th minute, to deny the Super Eagles a crucial three points.

The 1-1 draw against the Warriors of Zimbabwe leaves the 2013 AFCON champions with just seven points from five games in the campaign, still stuck in fourth place, while South Africa edges closer to qualification with 13 points at the top of the table.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Osimhen could be seen walking off the pitch in frustration after the final whistle.

As Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface approached him, apparently to console or speak with him, Osimhen appeared to push him away in anger before storming off toward the tunnel.

This shows the Galatasaray loanee’s deep disappointment with the result, as Nigeria now face growing pressure in Group C following four draws, one win, and one loss in the World Cup qualifiers.

While the Super Eagles remain mathematically in contention for qualification, the dropped points have sparked frustration among the Nigeria football community, with Osimhen’s reaction summing up the mood in the camp.

Nigeria’s next qualifier against Rwanda and South Africa will be critical, and the team will hope to bounce back strongly as they chase a ticket to the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
