Genk boss reveals Yira Sor injury update ahead of Saint-Gilloise clash?

Genk head coach, Thorsten Fink, has revealed Nigerian winger, Yira Collins Sor, is in contention to feature for his side this weekend after a lengthy injury spell, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old had scored one goal and provided four assists in five assists for the Belgian Pro League leaders, but he sustained a muscle injury in the early days of December last year.

After nearly three months out, the former Nigeria U-20 international is set to return to action for the Smurfs ahead of their league clash against FCV Denver EH.

“Sor trains again and is close to full fitness, I just have to see if I already take him against Dender or against Union Saint-Gilloise in the core, but there are still decisions I have to make. That’s just a positive thing. On Saturday, I’ll make the final decision,” Thorsten Fink said in quotes revealed by Het Belang van Limburg.

Additionally, the former Hamburger SV manager expects his team to maintain this form into the championship playoffs.

“The competition keeps everyone on their toes. It’s a fight for a place. Not only in the team but also in the match selection. You can also see that in training, I see a lot of sharpness.

“That’s why I don’t fear a decline in that respect in the matches for the playoffs. That’s not how this group is structured,” the 57-year-old concluded.
