Europa League: Osayi-Samuel reveals what Fenerbahce must do to defeat Rangers

Fenerbahce star Bright Osayi-Samuel has shared his thoughts ahead of his side’s crucial Europa League clash against Rangers, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles defender returns from suspension just in time for the second leg in Scotland, where Fenerbahce will be aiming to bounce back from a disappointing 3-1 defeat at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

In the first leg, Cyriel Dessers and Vaclav Cerney were among the scorers for Rangers, punishing the Turkish giants for their defensive lapses.

Osayi-Samuel on Fenerbahce’s Game Plan

Speaking ahead of the match, Osayi-Samuel emphasised the importance of gaining possession and being clinical in front of goal.

“As a team, we are aware of how important tomorrow night’s match is. When we analysed the first game, we created a lot of chances and if we repeat that tomorrow night, if we create the same chances again… Of course, we know that Rangers will come against us with counterattacks, we know that they will play this game. So we have to have the ball and not lose the ball. That way, we can have a chance to win,” he stated.

Osayi-Samuel’s return is expected to provide a boost for José Mourinho’s side as they seek redemption in Glasgow with at least two-goal win to stay in contention.

Jose Mourinho Reacts Ahead of the Game

Fenerbahce’s head coach, Mourinho, is confident in his team’s ability to respond but acknowledges the difficulty of the task ahead.

“I have 200 matches in Europe. However, I don’t remember losing by two goals in a match we played at home. Winning by two goals at home or winning by three goals away… It all happened, I experienced it all. We have to do our job for tomorrow. As long as we do our job, I don’t think it will be possible. Everything we have makes it possible. We played a very difficult match in Istanbul. At the end of the day, they are not a very different team to us. They are constantly making mistakes, if we make the same mistakes, we deserve to be eliminated. Let’s see what happens tomorrow night.”

Mourinho’s side will need a strong response against a Rangers team that has proven to be dangerous, especially on the counterattack.

With Osayi-Samuel back in the squad, Fenerbahce will be hoping to capitalise on their attacking opportunities while keeping things tight at the back.
