Arsenal snub Victor Osimhen, focus on €75 million striker

English Premier League club Arsenal are prioritizing a transfer for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres instead of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen has been heavily linked with Arsenal in the last two years following his impressive performances for Napoli. However, a deal has failed to materialize as Arsenal have not put a decent offer on the table.

The Gunners have struggled with goals this season, and this has been due to their lack of a prolific striker. Hence, this summer, they are set to go all out for a striker.

Aside from Osimhen, Arsenal have been linked with other top strikers like Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Alexander Isak. Isak have registered 23 goals and five assists in 33 appearances this season, while Gyokeres has registered 42 goals and 11 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

However, the Gunners seem to have made their final decision. According to the Athletics’ transfer expert David Ornstein, Arsenal prefer to sign Gyokeres instead of Osimhen or Isak. And they will try to make the deal in the summer.

Why Arsenal prefer Osimhen to Gyokeres?

According to the Athletics report, Arsenal’s new Sporting director Andrea Berta is a big admirer of Gyokeres. And since he has a big say in the transfers, he would likely influence the deal.

The Swedish striker has a similar profile with Osimhen, but he has not played in one of the top five yet. Still, Gyokeres’ numbers are great and he could do really well in the Premier League.

He also comes at a relatively good fee, as Sporting CP would demand around €75 million for the transfer to happen.

Which other options does Victor Osimhen have

Victor Osimhen is not short of admirers. He is currently having a great season-long Galatasaray and is expected to leave the club soon.

Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool are still interested in him and could push for the transfer in the summer. Galatasaray also want to keep him, but financing the transfer might be an uphill task.

But one thing us clear, even if Arsenal do not sign Osimhen, another top club will sign him in the summer.
