Jamilu Collins faces uncertain future at relegation-threatened Cardiff City

Super Eagles and Cardiff City left-back, Jamilu Collins, could exit the Cardiff City Stadium as he faces an uncertain future after falling out of favour with the club, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 30-year-old has featured in just three league games for the Bluebirds, with his last game coming in his side’s 2-2 draw against Coventry in November.

Since joining Cardiff City in 2022, Collins has had it tough, rupturing his ACL, and has accrued 44 appearances across three seasons for Omer Riza’s side.

As a result of Collins’ fitness issues, the board considered shipping him out during the January transfer window, but the former Paderborn defender barely had any offers, and has now been termed surplus to requirements by the one-time FA Cup Champions.

Cardiff City are now considering the option of a mutual contract termination, but nothing concrete is yet to occur.

“There’s nothing at the moment. If every transfer around the world closes, he will either look to stay or some sort of agreement [mutual contract termination] will be made,” Cardiff City coach, Omer Riza, said in quotes revealed by Wales Online.

Collins’ contract at Cardiff City was extended last summer, and it is a huge surprise to many how the player and the club hierarchy have fallen out in the space of just over seven months.

Cardiff are currently battling relegation in the EFL Championship, as they’ve accrued 31 points from 31 games. The Bluebirds are currently 20th on the league table, four points above bottom-placed Luton Town.
