Watch: Like Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, Gift Orban shows fufu demolition skills

Nigerian striker Gift Orban has shared a video of himself eating a player of fufu and egusi soup on social media, Soccernet.ng reports.

In recent years, Super Eagles players and other foreign players of Nigerian descent have shown an affinity for one of the most popular local dished fufu and egusi soup.

Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi started the trend, as despite representing Germany internationally, he has always held his Nigerian roots dear.

In February 2023, after helping Dortmund defeat Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League, Adeyemi revealed that the energy for his speed came from eating fufu. This caused a big buzz at the time. Even Alex Iwobi emulated him, sharing a video of himself eating fufu a few weeks before the start of the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The latest player to join the fufu trend is Hoffenheim star Orban. He shared a video of himself eating a plate of fufu and egusi.

Orban’s fufu video comes after scoring in back-to-back games for Hoffenheim. Although he did not reveal why he enjoyed eating fufu, he looked interested in the delicacy.

The 22-year-old striker has been invited to the Super Eagles squad but failed to get an appearance.

Currently, Orban is struggling to break into Hoffenheim’s first team. However, if he continues to improve, he could soon become the club’s main man.
