“We want to improve now” – Everything Sadiq Umar said after making his Valencia debut against CD Eldense

Super Eagles and Valencia striker, Sadiq Umar, was delighted to make his debut for Valencia last night in their 2-0 win over CD Eldense in the Copa Del Rey round of 32, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old joined Carlos Corberan’s side on loan from Real Sociedad after he struggled for playing time in Real Sebastian. His move to Valencia includes an option to buy clause, for a fee of nine million euros.

Sadiq came on in the second half of the game, but could not find the back of the net on his debut. However, his performance impressed his coach.

“Since the first day, he has come with the necessary attitude and mentality to play in Valencia CF. Those who come here must come with that commitment and that intention to help. Today has been a first step where he has demonstrated that necessary attitude for this moment,” Carlos Corberan said in quotes revealed by the club’s official website.

In the same vein, the former AS Roma striker exhaled at the gasp of fresh air after he played his first minutes for Los Ches at the Estadio Municipal Nuevo Pepico Amat last night.

“I needed a game like this, I want to play continuously because unfortunately I hadn’t scored for a year and I want to change that because I want to be an important player at Valencia.

“We’ve had little time with Corberán, but we are a young group that wants to learn and improve and we want to improve now. We’ve had little time with him, but we’re a young group that wants to learn and improve and we want to improve now. The fans can be excited about the Cup. The situation in the League is what it is, but if we play like we did on Friday and like we did in the Cup, I don’t think there will be many problems,” the Nigerian concluded.

Valencia’s victory last night was their first in six games across all competitions. They continue their league campaign on Saturday when they travel to Sevilla.
