“It would be amazing” – Former West Bromwich Albion striker sets bold target with Enyimba International

Nigerian and Enyimba International striker, Aide Brown Ideye, has set bold targets for his new side in the Nigeria Professional Football League, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 36-year-old returned to play football in Nigeria after touring several clubs in Europe, including the likes of Sochaux, Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, Malaga, Olympiacos and Gotzepe.

A few weeks back, he signed for Enyimba International after he spent the last two years out of action simply because he was without a club.

After signing for the Elephants, Ideye has quickly laid down his short-term goals for the two-time CAF Champions League winners.

“At this moment, I am not even thinking of accepting any invitation for CHAN of whatever they call it. Right now, my only focus is on Enyimba. If any other thing comes up after that, we can look at it.

“For now, it’s just Enyimba. If I can retire after winning the league with Enyimba, that would be one great achievement for me. As a football player, you want to win trophies, so you will have good memories when you retire. So, if I can do that, if we collectively as a team win the cup, that would be my send-off party. To have the trophy would be amazing,” the 2013 AFCON winner said in quotes revealed by Sports 247.

Since his return to the Nigerian top-flight, Ideye has scored two goals in his opening three games for Enyimba. However, his side have a challenge on their hands if they’re to win the NPFL this season. They’re currently nine points behind league leaders, Remo Stars.
