Former Rangers and Scotland midfielder, Michael Stewart, has urged the Scottish Record Champions to sell Super Eagles striker, Cyriel Dessers, despite his blistering form, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 30-year-old, in his time at Ibrox, has blown hot and cold, barely laying down a sequence of consistency. When he’s in the mood, he scores, and when he’s not, nothing goes right. Still, he’s scored the most goals for the Gers over the last eighteen months, signifying his importance.
Dessers fell down the Rangers’ attacking pecking order in November, losing his starting spot to Moroccan U-23 striker, Hamza Igamane. This roused interest from several clubs, who were looking to make a bid for the former Cremonese striker who wanted to play more games, even if it’s away from Scotland.
The former Manchester United midfielder believes Dessers’ form is a plus for Rangers, as they’ll be able to make a huge fee from his sale, opting against the Nigerian’s stay.
“Cyriel Dessers, if I was Rangers, I’d be over the moon with what’s happened in the last couple of games and just hoping, making it easier to facilitate a move out.
“He’s scored two great goals. His numbers are not bad. Let’s be honest, he’s not good enough. Colak [Antonio] for me was a better all-round striker than Dessers,” the former Scotland International said in quotes revealed by Rangers News.
“Get Dessers out of the door because he’ll be on a big pack of money, you might be able to recoup some money but I’d be looking at those last two games and going ‘Brilliant’.
“Don’t be fooled into thinking there might be a player in there. We’ve seen enough,” the 43-year-old concluded.
