Premier League: Liverpool legend includes Ola Aina in team of the season after 19 games

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has named Super Eagles defender Ola Aina in his English Premier League team of the season after the first 19 games, Soccernet.ng reports.

Aina is having a phenomenal campaign with Nottingham Forest this season. After battling to stay alive in the league last season, they are now real contenders for a place in the top four.

The Tricky Trees have eleven wins, four draws, and four losses from 19 games. Although they do not score a lot of goals, Nottingham have the third best defence in the Premier League, as they have conceded just 19 goals, only behind Liverpool (17) and Arsenal (16).

An important member of that backline is Nigerian defender Aina. The 28-year-old right-back has started all 19 of Nottingham Forest’s games in the Premier League, and he has recorded two goals.

Aina has also averaged 1.3 interceptions per game, 2.1 tackles per game, 5.7 ball recoveries per game, and 2.6 clearances per game.

He has done so well that Manchester City have been linked with a move for him in one of the next two transfer windows.

Now, in a recent development, Liverpool legend Carragher has named the Nigerian in his best eleven for the first half of the season.

Aina is joined by his teammate Nikola Milenkovic, Virgil Van Dijk, Antonee Robinson, Ryan Gravenberch, Moises Caicedo, Mohammed Salah, Cole Palmer, Matheus Cunha, and Chris Wood.

Aina still has six months on his current contract. If he continues to perform for the Tricky Trees, they will likely hand him an extension.
