Dele-Bashiru’s strike vs Atalanta sees Lazio join Arsenal, Man United as Europe’s elite scorers

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru added another milestone to his burgeoning career on Saturday evening as he netted Lazio’s opening goal in their 1-1 draw against Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian midfielder’s strike, his second in Serie A and fourth across all competitions this season, etched Lazio into the record books as the Italian team with the most players scoring at least four goals this term.

Dele-Bashiru became the sixth Lazio player to reach the four-goal mark this season, a feat that highlights the Biancocelesti’s attacking depth under head coach Marco Baroni.

The club’s breadth of goal-scoring options is unmatched in Serie A and places them among the top three clubs in Europe’s five major leagues for the same statistic.

Football analytics platform Opta captured Lazio’s achievement, posting:

“Dele-Bashiru (four goals) is the sixth Lazio player to score more than three all-comps goals in 24/25: a record among Serie A teams. Considering the Big-5 European leagues, only Arsenal and Manchester United have done better (seven scorers with 4+ goals each).”

At just 23 years old, Dele-Bashiru is proving to be a vital addition to the Lazio setup.

The midfielder, who joined on a season-long loan from Hatayspor last summer, has impressed with his energy, composure and creativity.

His nine goals and six assists in the Turkish Super Lig last season caught Lazio’s attention, and his performances in Serie A are justifying the club’s decision to secure him with an obligation to buy.
