Ademola Lookman brace against Napoli on Saturday ensured that he became the Serie A forward with the highest number of goal involvements in 2024, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has been in superb form for Atalanta for the past two seasons. This year, he has been playing the best football of his life, and he has been racking up the numbers.
The 27-year-old Super Eagles star continued with his impressive form on Sunday, when he scored a brace to help Atalanta defeat Napolo at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The first was a superb volley from inside the box, while the second was a brilliant better from outside the box, off a counter.
Lookman’s strikes took him to six goals and four assists in the Serie A this season. And according to OptaPaolo, he is now the Serie A player that has the most goals in 2024 across all competitions: 27, for Atalanta (16 goals, 11 assists). For context, the Serie A has many top attackers like Romelu Lukaku, Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, Dusan Vlahovic, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Atalanta’s victory ensured that they leapfrog Inter Milan and Juventus to second place. However, the Nerazzurri still have a game in hand.
Lookman will be looking to continue his impressive performances for Atalanta. His performances have attracted some top sides in Europe, and he could be on his way out next summer.
