Report: Arsenal to offload 20-goal forward to battle PSG for Ademola Lookman

Super Eagles’ Ademola Lookman has been impressive for Atalanta and Nigeria, ranking 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or

Arsenal are reportedly prepared to offload 20-goal forward Leandro Trossard as they set their sights on a potential transfer battle with Paris Saint-Germain for Ademola Lookman’s signature, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Belgian forward enjoyed a strong first season with the Emirates outfit, netting 17 goals and provided two assists under the management of Mikel Arteta.

However, this season, the former KRC Genk player has delivered a subpar performance, managing only two goals in 13 appearances for the North London.

Meanwhile, Lookman’s outstanding performances for both Atalanta and Nigeria have caught the attention of top European clubs, including Arsenal.

To secure the Nigerian international, reports suggests that Arsenal may look to offload Trossard to raise sufficient funds and compete with PSG, who are also monitoring Lookman’s impressive form.

Before the summer window closed, Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad reportedly offered €35 million for Trossard’s services. However, Arsenal turned down the bid due to a lack of a replacement as the transfer deadline approached.

Al-Ittihad is still interested in signing Trossard and could return with an improved €40 million offer. Such a fee would bolster Arsenal’s budget, helping them pursue Lookman if they remain keen by the next transfer window.

Earlier, Nigerian Afrobeat artiste, Tochukwu Ojogwu, known as Odumodublvck has urged the Arsenal to secure the signature of his countryman, Lookman, and Viktor Gyokeres, to bolster Arsenal’s attacking options.

Both players have been on Arsenal’s radar since last season, but the Gunners have been hesitant to move forward with a deal. However, securing both transfers simultaneously could prove challenging for Arsenal due to the complexities of financial fair play regulations.
