“Mauro Icardi is jealous of Osimhen” – Ex-Fenerbahçe defender makes bold statement about Galatasaray strikers

Former Turkey and Fenerbahçe defender, Eşref Selim Soydan, has revealed there is some growing tension between Mauro Icardi and Victor Osimhen in the Galatasaray attack, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Argentine and Nigerian striker hit it off immediately Osimhen joined the club, with their chemistry evident on and off the pitch. The pair combined for over 20 goals for the CimBom Atlan during their time on the pitch before Icardi picked up a cruciate knee ligament damage.

However, Soydan believes Icardi wields so much power in the Galatasaray dressing room. He praised Icardi for how he’s groomed some of the team’s players, but also highlighted the Argentine’s overuse of power as a captain.

“I never discuss the money he receives from Galatasaray and his contribution, but he is jealous, he did not expect this much.

Mauro Icardi is truly a great football player. He makes a great contribution to Galatasaray. He touched players like Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Yunus Akgün, and provides positive energy to others, but these types of players set the rules themselves.

He makes Okan Buruk do whatever he wants. He doesn’t run when the time comes, he gives instructions to those around him, they consult him on transfers. Icardi is the one who sent Wilfried Zaha off,” the Telegol commentator said as revealed by Haber Sari Kirmizi.

Speaking about Icardi’s relationship with Osimhen, the former Beşiktaş man believes the Argentine didn’t expect the Super Eagles striker to be a huge success in Turkey.

“I can say this very clearly that Mauro Icardi is jealous of Osimhen. He didn’t expect him to explode this much. The fans also embraced Osimhen. It’s not just about football. A footballer is jealous of a footballer, a goal scorer is jealous of a goal scorer, a star is jealous of a star. It’s not a situation that an athlete can handle.

If Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi had played 3-4 more games, they would have wiped Icardi off the field. He couldn’t focus on the field because he separated from his wife. If Osimhen started to get some efficiency, all the goals Mauro Icardi scored would be forgotten in 2 days, that’s all I’m saying,” the four-time Super Lïg winner concluded.

Osimhen has been in fine form since joining Galatasaray from Napoli, scoring eight goals in ten games.
