Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has broken his silence following his impressive performance for Atalanta BC against Napoli, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian attacker continues to shine this season, netting his 7th goal in 12 games for Atalanta in the 2024-25 season with a brace against Napoli.
Lookman’s two first-half goals set the tone for the Neapolitans’ defeat, who were without star striker Victor Osimhen. Coincidentally, around the same month last year, Osimhen had provided an assist for Eljif Elmas to cancel out one of Lookman’s goals.
Lookman’s standout performance earned him the Man of the Match award, and he took to social media to share pictures of himself holding the award with the caption, “Happy Sunday from Naples.”
He opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a composed finish inside Napoli’s box, firing a first-time shot to the bottom left corner of Alex Meret’s goal.
Just 21 minutes later, the former Everton forward doubled Atalanta’s lead with a powerful strike from outside the right corner of the box, completing his brace.
Antonio Conte’s men were unable to respond at their home ground, allowing Atalanta to close the gap at the top of the table to just three points.
Atalanta now sits second in the Serie A standings with 22 points, while Napoli remains in first place with 25 points.
