AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed gratitude for the trust head coach Paulo Fonseca has shown in him as he continues to push for consistent performances, Soccernet.ng reports.
Under Fonseca’s guidance, the Nigerian attacker has seen increased playing time in the starting lineup compared to his tenure under Stefano Pioli.
The Nigerian forward has scored one goal and provided one assist across 12 appearances, demonstrating his commitment to rewarding his coach’s confidence.
“Fonseca trusts me, he believes in me. I’m happy to have my chance and want to repay the coach’s confidence,” the Super Eagles winger said to MilanTV, as quoted by Milan Posts.
Since returning from the international break, the Super Eagles attacker has earned back-to-back starts, with all but the 2-0 loss to Napoli resulting in victories for AC Milan.
Despite a tough challenge from Monza, the Rossoneri clinched a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to Tijjani Reijnders’ decisive header.
AC Milan now faces a more formidable opponent as they prepare to take on La Liga giants Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League campaign.
The Nigeria international will be hopeful for another starting opportunity, as he aims to build on Milan’s previous win against Club Brugge and make an impact for his team.
