Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored for Rangers to inspire them to a hard-fought 2-1 over Motherwell in the semifinal of the Scottish Cup, Soccernet.ng reports.
Rangers returned to action with a fixture against Motherwell at Hampden Park. The Scottish Cup final ticket was at stake, and the Gers had extra motivation, as they won the competition last season and were looking to retain the title.
After his unimpressive showing against Aberdeen last week, coach Philippe Clement tasked Nigerian striker Dessers with leading the attack once more. Nigerian defender Leon Balogun also started in the defense.
Unfortunately for the Gers, they fell behind early on, with Andy Halliday scoring in the 25 minute. The Gers dominated the proceedings in the first half, but they failed to score.
However, they started the second half well. And Dessers scored to make it 1-1. The Nigerian striker who had missed some sitters earlier, got on the end of a pass from Connor Barron and spanked the ball home from close range.
Dessers got 67 minutes of action and was replaced with Danilo. The Gers eventually got the their second, as Nedim Bajrami scored in the 81st minute to make it 2-1.
It ended that way at Hampden Park, and Rangers sealed their place in the Scottish Cup final, where they will take on close rivals Celtic on December 15.

Great comeback by Rangers! Dessers really showed resilience, bouncing back from last week’s game to score the equalizer and help secure that Scottish Cup final spot. With this determination, Rangers are definitely keeping their title defense hopes alive!
