Alex Iwobi’s Premier League masterclass: Fulham boss Marco Silva predicts best season yet

Marco Silva has tipped Alex Iwobi to deliver his best-ever Premier League season as Fulham prepare to resume their impressive 2024-25 campaign against Wolves, Soccernet.ng reports

The Cottagers entered the international break on the back of consecutive victories over Brentford (2-1) and Crystal Palace (2-0), which propelled them to seventh place in the table.

With just a few points separating them from the Champions League spots, Iwobi has been pivotal in Fulham’s strong start.

The Nigerian international boasts two goals and two assists, and Silva believes the 28-year-old is in the form of his career.

“For me, last season was the best season from him in the Premier League, in my opinion, and I’m sure that he’s going to be better this season,” Silva told the club’s website.

“I know him very well. I brought him to Everton, and when we got the chance to have him with us here at Fulham, it was a moment for us to go to sign him.

“First, he is a really versatile player. He can play in many positions, and I know where he’s capable and where he feels he can perform better. He likes to be in the middle of the pitch, but now he’s playing more on the right, where he’s capable, like he showed against Crystal Palace.”

Iwobi ranks among the Premier League’s top creators this season, with only Dejan Kulusevski, Cole Palmer, and Bernardo Silva crafting more chances from open play.

His expected assists (2.9 xA) also highlight his creative influence. Additionally, Iwobi has scored more goals against Wolves (five) than against any other team.

Fulham have won only one of their last eight Premier League encounters with Wolves but secured victory in this fixture last season (3-2).

With Silva’s men chasing a third consecutive league win, they look poised to extend Wolves’ woes.

Wolves, winless in their last 11 away games, face a stern test in London, where they have lost seven of their last 10 outings.
