“Who wise pass?” – Super Eagles GK Nwabali knocks Libya’s Al Wuheeshi for time-wasting antics vs Nigeria

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has aimed a low blow at his Libyan counterpart Murad Al Wuheeshi for his underhand tactics during Friday’s match, Soccernet.ng reports.

Underdogs Libya were four minutes away from claiming a memorable away point at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo before a late Fisayo Dele-Bashiru strike broke the visitors’ hearts.

Ranked 82 places below Nigeria on the FIFA rankings, Libya did well to keep Nigeria at bay for 86 minutes.

The Mediterranean Knights employed several tactics to blunt Nigeria’s play including an all-defence approach and team-coordinated time-wasting antics.

No Libyan player delayed the game more than goalkeeper Murad Al Wuheeshi, who needed medical attention every time he touched the ball.

However, the game’s pendulum swung after Dele-Bashiru broke the deadlock in the 86th minute. It was Libya’s turn to desperately search for an equaliser while Nigeria’s goalkeeper Nwabali took his time with every catch.

After the game, the Chippa United shot-stopper to his social media account to throw shades at Libya’s Al Wuheeshi.

“Who come wise pass,” Nwabali wrote on X, implying how the wisdom of his Libyan opponent turned to foolishness at the end of the encounter.

Nigeria and Libya will trade tackles again on Tuesday in Benghazi on matchday four of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Super Eagles, with seven points, sit top of Group D while Libya are rooted to rock bottom with one point from three games.

Nigeria will book their place at Morocco 2025 with two games to spare if they beat Libya and Rwanda fail to beat Benin on the same day.
