“We’re here to win” – Libya captain eyes three points against Super Eagles in Uyo

Nigeria will play against Libya twice during the October International break in home and away fixtures as the look to qualify for AFCON 2025.

Captain of the Libyan national football team, Faisal Al-Badri, has revealed his side will settle for nothing less than a win when they take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria this evening, Soccernet.ng reports.

Both sides were drawn into the AFCON 2025 Qualification group D alongside Rwanda and the Republic of Benin and the Super Eagles lead the group with four points from two games.

Speaking ahead of Libya’s clash against Nigeria, the captain of the Mediterranean knights claimed the Super Eagles are the best team on the continent, but maintained his side will do their best to win in Uyo today.

“We’re here to win. We know we’re up against the strongest team in Africa, but we came here to win. It’s a winnable game. We are not afraid of Nigeria. We are here to prove a point,” the 34-year-old said in quotes revealed by Brila.

Libya are currently bottom of Group D with just one point from two games. They stand 121st in the latest FIFA rankings while the Super Eagles are 39th.

In the last three meetings between both sides, Nigeria have won all three games, scoring eight goals and conceding just three.

Kick-off time for Nigeria’s clash against Libya this evening is slated for 5:00pm WAT. The game will be played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom. The second leg will be played on Tuesday at the Martyrs of February Stadium, Benghazi, Libya.
