Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has provided an update on his recovery timeline after sustaining a hamstring injury during Galatasaray’s recent fixture against Kasimpasa, Soccernet.ng reports.
The injury, which forced him off the pitch after scoring a brace and his debut goal for the club, has seen him miss several matches for his club and country.
Osimhen, who is currently on loan from Napoli, missed Galatasaray’s subsequent Europa League clash with Latvian champions FC RFS, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The club confirmed that the prolific striker had suffered a strain and bleeding in his upper left posterior muscle and is undergoing treatment at the team’s sponsor hospital, Medicana.
“The treatment of our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his upper left posterior muscle during the Kasımpaşa match in the seventh week of the Trendyol Super League and who was diagnosed with strain (strain and bleeding) in his upper left posterior muscle group during his check-ups at our sponsor hospital Medicana today, has been started.” the club said in an official statement.
While initial reports speculated that the Nigerian forward could be sidelined for up to six weeks, Osimhen has now offered clarity regarding his recovery.
In a brief interaction with journalists captured by Turkish journalist Caner Isbegendiren, the former Napoli star shared that he expects to return to action after the international break.
Galatasaray fans will be hoping Osimhen makes a quick recovery, with his return likely to be for their upcoming league fixture against Antalyaspor.
