All the 23 Super Eagles players invited for Nigeria’s crucial CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya have reported to camp, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sevilla duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidera Ejuke arrived at the Super Eagles base in Uyo on Wednesday morning to hand caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen a huge boost ahead of the clash with Libya on Friday.
Iheanacho and Ejuke were part of Sevilla’s squad in their 1-0 victory over Real Betis on Sunday, although Iheanacho was an unused substitute while Ejuke played the full 90 minutes.
The duo missed the first Super Eagles training session on Tuesday but are expected to join Wednesday’s session once they recover from their journey.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce’s Bright Osayi-Samuel, who also missed Tuesday’s training, is expected to participate with the team as they prepare for the must-win match against Libya.
Libya’s national team, the Mediterranean Knights, arrived in Uyo after a long journey from Tripoli via Abuja earlier on Wednesday morning.
Under newly appointed head coach Nasser Al-Hadhiri, the Libyans hope to reverse their fortunes after a poor start in the qualifiers. They are set to train in Uyo ahead of Friday’s showdown.
The Super Eagles, with four points from their first two matches, will look to extend their strong start in the qualifiers, with the reverse fixture scheduled just four days later in Benghazi, Libya.
The match will be crucial for both teams as they fight for a spot in the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
