Report: Atalanta ready to cash in on Lookman for €60M, eye younger replacement

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been nominated for the 2024 African Player of the Year award following his performance this year

Atalanta appears ready to capitalise on the rising stock of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman whose remarkable performances have drawn the attention of major European clubs, Soccernet.ng reports.

Reports circulating in the Italian Media have revealed that a transfer fee between €50 and €60 million could be enough to secure Lookman’s exit, with Premier League clubs expected to be strong contenders for his signature.

The Super Eagles forward joined the Bergamo-based club in the 2022 summer transfer window and has been instrument for Gian Gesperini’s men since then.

The Nigerian attacker has surpassed expectation with his talents for the Serie A club and his country earning him the African Player Of The Year nomination and the favourite to win it.

His recent hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen which earned Atalanta the Europa League victory elevated him into an elite tier of players, where he is one of the contenders for the Balon d’Or for this year.

His stellar performances have also intensified interest from bigger European clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain having shown strong interest last summer.

Atalanta management is now weighing options for a future without Lookman. Tutto Atalanta hints the club’s strategy seems to focus on selling Lookman at a premium, potentially €60 million, and investing €25-30 million in a younger player to take his place.
