Victor Osimhen’s self-predicted recovery timeline is proving accurate, as the Super Eagles striker returned to training ahead of Galatasaray’s upcoming clash with Antalyaspor, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian forward, who sustained a hamstring injury during Galatasaray’s Super Lig match against Kasimpasa, has been out of action for both club and country.
Despite initial fears of a lengthy absence, Osimhen remained confident about his swift recovery—and now looks set to return sooner than expected.
His absence, due to a strain and bleeding in his upper left posterior muscle, has kept him out of action for several crucial matches, including Galatasaray’s Europa League encounter with Latvian side FC RFS, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
Initially, it was feared that the prolific striker could be sidelined for up to six weeks. However, Osimhen has now clarified his recovery timeline, sharing optimistic news with journalists.
Speaking to Turkish reporter Caner Isbegendiren, Osimhen revealed that he expects to return after the international break, which aligns perfectly with his earlier prediction.
Osimhen was spotted in training with his teammates ahead of Galatasaray’s upcoming clash with Antalyaspor, signalling that his recovery is well on track.
After the session, Osimhen told journalists, “I will start working with the team today. I think I will be integrated into the team from tomorrow.”
Although Osimhen is back in training, reports suggest that Mauro Icardi is expected to start in the first 11 for the Antalyaspor clash, with Osimhen possibly making his return from the bench as Galatasaray carefully manage his recovery ahead of their derby with Beşiktaş.
