“I hate losing” – Super Eagles-eligible striker reacts to Genk’s first Jupiler Pro League loss to Kortrijk

Super Eagles-eligible striker Tolu Arokodare has voiced his frustration after KRC Genk’s unexpected 2-1 defeat to Kortrijk, Soccernet.ng reports.

Genk, aiming for their sixth consecutive league victory, were leading 1-0 before Kortrijk staged a dramatic comeback to claim all three points, denying the four-time Belgian Pro League champions a crucial win.

Arokodare, who featured prominently in the match but couldn’t prevent the loss, took to social media, writing, “I hate losing,” to express his disappointment.

The Nigerian forward has been in fine form this season, scoring six goals in 10 Jupiler Pro League appearances, making him one of Genk’s standout performers in the 2024-25 campaign.

Arokodare’s impressive performances have sparked calls for him to be included in the Super Eagles squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Libya.

However, in the absence of the injured Victor Osimhen, Chidera Ejuke was called up instead, making his return to the national team for the first time since September 2022.

At 23, Arokodare has already amassed 60 career goals and 13 assists in 171 professional appearances, but he is yet to make his debut for Nigeria.

The forward’s career has seen him journey through Europe, starting from Box2Box FC in Nigeria to Austrian side Valmiera. He later joined German Bundesliga outfit FC Köln on loan but struggled to score in 11 appearances.

Arokodare found his form at French Ligue 2 side Amiens, where he netted 21 goals and provided four assists in 63 games before signing with Genk in January 2023.
