Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest full-back, Olaoluwa Aina, has named FC Nantes winger, Moses Simon, as the toughest Nigerian opponent he’s faced, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 28-year-old versatile full-back has been a member of the Nigerian Football team for almost eight years, making his debut in 2017 and becoming teammates with the fleet-footed Moses Simon.
The pair featured regularly under former Super Eagles boss, Jose Peseiro, and they played vital roles in Nigeria’s run to the final of the AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.
Speaking in an interview with the Counter Attack Podcast, the former Chelsea man was quizzed about the toughest winger he’s faced in terms of one against one situations, and be mentioned Moses Simon.
“To defend against, probably Moses Simon. I wouldn’t say he’s unpredictable because you sort of know what he’s going to do, but his sharpness makes him really difficult to deal with. He’s so sharp off the mark,” the former Torino man said.
Moses Simon is known for his blistering pace as he hit a top speed of 35.95 km/hr, in the French Ligue 1 last season, beating Les Bleus superstars, Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.
The 29-year-old winger has been a key player for FC Nantes this season, scoring two goals and three assists in just eight league appearances.
Ola Aina is also one of Nottingham Forest’s quickest players, beating Manchester City’s Kyle Walker for pace when Pep Guardiola’s side played against Nottingham Forest last season.
