“You’re not just fans”- Victor Osimhen sends strong message to Galatasaray supporters after defeating Fenerbahce

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has sent a message to Galatasaray fans following their 3-1 victory over Fenerbahce on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.

After missing their midweek win over Gaziantep, Osimhen returned to action in Galatasaray’s Süper Lig cracker against fellow title contenders Fenerbahçe.

Historically, both clubs are the biggest in Turkey, with 43 Süper Lig titles combined. Moreover, both clubs are from Istanbul, making it a derby. Last season, Galatasaray won the Süper Lig by just three points, and Fenerbahçe with José Mourinho has been looking to displace them.

It was expected to be a tough game for Galatasaray despite their impeccable form since the start of the season. However, the reigning champions of Turkey made light work of Fenerbahce, who had the home advantage.

The Lions ran out with a 3-1 victory, courtesy of goals from Gabriel Sara, Dries Mertens, and an own goal from Dominik Livakovic. Osimhen was quite impressive, as he provided a sublime assist to Mertens’ goal.

After the game, Osimhen shared a post on social media appreciating Galatasaray fans for their support.

“Yesterday’s win wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of Galatasaray fans around the world. Your cheers gave us the strength to fight,” Osimhen said, per Fanatik.

“You are no just fans in the stands; you are a big part of this team. Thank you for believing in us. We walk together.”

Next up for Osimhen and his Galatasaray side is a Europa League game against PAOK on Wednesday, and they will be looking to get a good start in the competition.
