WATCH: Ndidi shines with Leicester assist; Ndah leads Pirates to Cup final; Adams, Simon score in Ligue 1

Several Nigerian footballers were in action on Saturday, August 31, delivering notable performances across Europe and Africa.

Soccernet.ng provides a summary of the key contributions from Wilfred Ndidi, Olisa Ndah, Moses Simon, and Akor Adams.

Ndidi Grabs Assist in Leicester City’s Defeat to Aston Villa

Wilfred Ndidi made a significant impact for Leicester City, providing an assist in their 2-1 loss to Aston Villa at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes found themselves behind early, with Amadou Onana giving Villa the lead in the 28th minute, assisted by Ollie Watkins.

Villa doubled their advantage through Jhon Duran just after the hour mark.

However, Leicester clawed one back when Ndidi’s header set up Facundo Buonano for a goal.

Despite his efforts, Leicester couldn’t avoid defeat and Ndidi was substituted in the final minute for Bobby De Cordova-Reid.

The Foxes continue to struggle, with one draw and two defeats so far this season.

Olisa Ndah Shines as Orlando Pirates Reach Cup Final

Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah led by example as Orlando Pirates secured a spot in the MTN 8 final with a 2-0 victory over Cape Town City FC, winning 3-1 on aggregate.

Ndah, who captained the side, was instrumental in keeping a clean sheet, forming a formidable defensive partnership with Thabiso Sesane, now dubbed the ‘Wall of Orlando.’

Ndah’s stellar performances for Pirates have earned him a recall to the Super Eagles for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda.

Ligue 1: Akor Adams and Moses Simon Find the Net as Nantes Beat Montpellier

In France, Akor Adams and Moses Simon both found the back of the net as FC Nantes defeated Montpellier 3-1 at Stade de la Mosson.

Adams opened his goal-scoring account for the season in the 30th minute, leveling the score after Matthis Abline had given Montpellier the lead.

Shortly before halftime, Simon converted a penalty to put Nantes ahead, marking his second goal in consecutive games.

Mostafa Mohamed sealed the win for Nantes in the 85th minute with assistance from Tino Kadewere, who provided two assists in the match.

Simon is now set to join the Super Eagles for their upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
