WATCH: Victor Osimhen in Galatasaray starting XI for derby clash vs Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce

Victor Osimhen has been named in Galatasaray’s starting lineup for their much-anticipated derby match against Fenerbahce, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Super Eagles striker has been preferred up front just ahead of his friend Dries Merten as Galatasaray aim to maintain their perfect start to the season.

This derby presents the perfect stage for Osimhen to score his first goal for the Turkish champions.

Although star forward Mauro Icardi has returned from injury, Osimhen’s presence in the lineup shows the club’s faith in his ability to deliver in big games.

The matchup between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce is expected to be a thriller, with both sides in top form.

Galatasaray come into the game on the back of a 3-1 victory over Gaziantep FK, extending their winning run to five matches and sitting at the top of the table with 15 points.

Fenerbahce, just two points behind, have also had an unbeaten start to the season, winning four and drawing one of their five matches.

While Osimhen is yet to open his account for Galatasaray, teammate Baris Alper Yilmaz has been their standout performer, netting four times, including two crucial opening goals.

For Fenerbahce, Edin Dzeko has been their key player in attack, matching Yilmaz’s tally with four goals of his own.

Fenerbahce, with an impressive 15-match unbeaten home run, will be tough opponents at the Ülker Stadyumu.

However, Galatasaray are equally formidable on the road, unbeaten in their last 14 away matches. Both teams are eager to gain the upper hand in this derby, and all eyes will be on Osimhen as he looks to make his mark on Turkish football.

The Nigerian striker is hoping to prove his worth in what is expected to be one of the defining matches of the Süper Lig season.
