Former Roma defender Marco Baroni has outlined how Fisayo Dele-Bashiru can become a great midfielder following Lazio’s victory against Dynamo Kyiv, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Italian side travelled to Volksparkstadion to secure all three points in their UEFA Europa League campaign, with the Super Eagles star’s strike contributing to Lazio’s 3-nil crushing of the Ukrainian side.
After the game, Lazio Manager Baroni emphasised the importance of developing tactical awareness and understanding of the game for the young midfielder. He believes that with these improvements, Dele-Bashiru has the potential to make a significant impact on the pitch.
“Dele-Bashiru is a player who needs to be built, in the sense that he needs to have more tactical thinking and fill the game. When he finds this, he becomes a great modern midfielder,” he said, as quoted by the Italian media outlet Fanta Master.
The Manchester City youth product Dele-Bashiru scored his first goal in his fourth appearance for the Italian side and also provided an assist in their UEL matchday 1 victory away at Dynamo Kyiv.
During the game, Matias Vecino slipped the ball through to Dele-Bashiru, who dashed into the box to unleash a magnificent shot into the top right corner.
The Nigerian midfielder will be hoping to make a greater impact for the Italian side when they travel to tackle Torino for their Matchday Six clash.
