Former Fenerbahçe gaffer highlights what differentiate Osimhen from Icardi

Former Fenerbahçe coach Reha Kapsal has added his voice to the ongoing comparison between Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen and his Galatasaray teammate Mauro Icardi, Soccernet.ng reports.

In an interview with Turkish media outlet A Spor, the 61-year-old tactician highlighted a crucial difference between the two prolific strikers.

Kapsal noted that while Icardi thrives on service from his teammates, Osimhen possesses the unique ability to create and convert chances on his own.

“The main difference between Osimhen and Icardi is that Icardi needs his teammates to score goals. Osimhen doesn’t need anyone. The Nigerian star finds his position and scores, even when the ball isn’t delivered to him,” Kapsal stated.

Osimhen made his much-anticipated return to club football recently, wearing the colours of Turkish giants Galatasaray for the first time since his last appearance for Napoli in June. The Super Eagles talisman featured in Galatasaray’s clash against Rizespor at RAMS Park, making an immediate impact.

The Nigerian striker was involved in a key moment when he headed in a free-kick to make it 2-0. However, after the ball touched teammate Abdulkerim Bardakci, the goal was officially recorded as an assist for Osimhen.

Despite not scoring his debut goal, Osimhen will be eager to open his account when Galatasaray take on Gaziantep this Tuesday.

His sharpness in front of goal and ability to shine even without significant support will no doubt be crucial as he settles into his new environment with the Yellow-Reds.
