Nigerian forward Tosin Kehinde played a crucial role at the weekend as his contribution inspired Ferencváros to a fine 3-1 victory over Puskás in the Hungarian top division on Sunday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Kehinde provided two key assists to help Ferencváros maintain the club’s perfect start to the league campaign with their sixth consecutive victory.
The NB I gameweek eight clash at the Groupama Aréna in Budapest was heading towards a goalless draw when Kehinde was introduced from the bench in the 64th minute.
Barely 60 seconds later, Kehinde created Ferencváros’ first goal of the encounter.
The former Manchester United trainee led his side’s counterattack with a surging dash forward before slotting the ball for Matheus Saldanha to scoop into the net.
Saldanha doubled Ferencváros’ advantage in the 77th with the assist credited to Kehinde after he forced Puskás’ goalie into making a mistake.
Brazilian forward Saldanha completed his hat-trick five minutes later.
Kehinde will hope his display against Puskás will earn him a place in the Ferencváros squad set to face English side Tottenham Hotspurs this week.
The 26-year-old attacker was not included in the Ferencváros team that travelled to Brussel last week to tackle Belgian giants Anderlecht on matchday one of the UEFA Europa League.
Ferencváros suffered a 2-1 defeat to Anderlecht and the Hungarians will aim for a better result when they host Spurs on Thursday, October 3rd.
Tottenham are on a roll at the moment as the Londoners have won each of their last four games in all compositions, including a stunning 3-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.
