Watch: Iheanacho unfazed by replacing Moroccan striker at Sevilla

Super Eagles forward Iheanacho recently penned a two-year deal with the seven-time UEFA Europa League champions Sevilla FC

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his confidence in stepping into the shoes of Youssef En-Nesyri at Sevilla FC, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iheanacho recently penned a two-year deal with the seven-time UEFA Europa League champions following the expiration of his contract with English Premier League newcomers Leicester City.

In a recent interview, the Nigerian striker shared his excitement about joining the team and his readiness to make a significant impact for the club.

“I feel very good and am happy to come to Sevilla and to be a new Sevilla player. I am very happy to be here,” the former Manchester City player revealed via the club’s official website.

When questioned about filling En-Nesyri’s void, the 27-year-old striker emphasised that he feels no pressure to replace the Moroccan star, who left the club for Fenerbahçe SK.

“It feels good to be here. I have followed Sevilla and I have seen the games. I don’t feel pressure. En-Nesyri was a great striker who did a lot for the team. Now I am here, and what I want is to focus on the games and the team, continue improving every day, and make history on the pitch,” he continued.

The Super Eagles star did not feature in Sevilla’s clash against Fulham and might not be travelling with the rest of the squad to face Liverpool at Anfield Stadium.

However, it is hopeful that he will be fit to kick-start the 2024–25 La Liga campaign with their first clash against Las Palmas.
