“They’ll know it’ll be tough” – Iwobi and Bassey’s boss plays up his team’s qualities ahead of EPL opener against Manchester United

Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey found the back of the net the last time Fulham travelled to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Fulham’s head coach, Marco Silva, has maintained faith in his side as they head into the official curtain raiser for the 2024/2025 English Premier League season against Manchester United, Soccernet.ng reports.

Super Eagles duo, Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi were on the scoresheet the last time both teams met, and will be looking to repeat the theatrics at Old Trafford.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash, Marco Silva mentioned his team have respect for the defending FA Cup Champions but also have qualities that can cause the game to go in their favour.

“It should be a top start. It’s a tough one against Manchester United, not just for us but for any club in the  Premier League, but they also know what has happened against us in our last two meetings at Old Trafford and Craven Cottage. It’ll be a tough game for them, and of course, we go there to fight for all three points. We respect them and we’re looking forward to the game. They’ll be aware of some things and they’ll change some things, just like us, based off our history, but when the game starts it’ll simply be two teams that want to win,” the former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager said in an interview posted on Fulham’s official website.

The Portuguese manager also added his team are at full strength and have no injury problems going into tonight’s clash against Erik Ten Hag’s side. Kick-off is slated for 8:00 PM W.A.T.
