Strong Wilfred Ndidi helps Leicester nick first Premier League points in opener against Tottenham

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi played all 90 minutes for Leicester City in their interesting 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the King Power Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Leicester City welcomed Tottenham to the King Power in their first game of the Premier League season. And Ndidi, who was a consistent performer for the club in the Championship started from midfield alongside Harry Winks.

The early embers of the game was an onslaught from Tottenham, as they launched attack upon attack at the Leicester City defense. Ndidi struggled to pick the pace in the first 15 minutes, and his touches looked off.

Nonetheless, he made up for it with his amazing work rate. Tottenham could have scored in the 6th minute after Rodrigo Bentancur sent in a glancing header off a corner, but Ndidi made a superb goal-line clearance to keep his side in the game.

Unfortunately for the Foxes, the pressure was too much, and they eventually succumbed in the 29th minute, as Pedro Porro converted a fine header to make it 1-0.

After scoring, Spurs reduce their intensity, opening the door for Steve Cooper’s men to get comfortable. However, the Foxes had to wait until the 57th minute before they got their goal. And it was courtesy of Jamie Vardy, who reacted to a cross from Fatawu and placed a fatal header past Vicario.

After Leicester City scored, Ndidi started seeing more of the ball a gain some control over the middle of the park. He occasionally ventured forward, and he almost got lucky. In the 67th minute, he had an opportunity to strike the ball at goal, but his effort just scorched the side netting.

Then in the 91st minute, Ndidi planted a header towards goal from point-blank range following a cross from Stephy Mavididi, but it was saved.

The game dragged on, and even with Tottenham’s barrage of attacks, they failed to score a second. It eventually ended 1-1 at the King Power.
