Report: Chelsea take major step in Victor Osimhen transfer amid Saudi Arabia interest

Former English Premier League champions Chelsea have submitted a bid to Napoli for the signing of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, Soccernet.ng reports.

The transfer window is set to close by 11:59PM on Friday, but Osimhen is yet to move to a new club. The 25-year-old Super Eagles star has been linked with Chelsea, Arsenal, PSG, and Ahli.

However, the frontrunners for his signature appear to be Chelsea and Al Ahli. The Saudi Arabian are offering Osimhen a mouthwatering deal, one that Chelsea are unwilling to match.

Hence, the transfer has been sluggish. However, Chelsea appear to want to wrap-up the deal as soon as possible.

This is as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea have table a bid for Osimhen, albeit the price was not stated.

Chelsea want to sign Osimhen on a season-long loan deal with an obligation at the end of the season. There is no response from Chelsea and Osimhen’s camp yet, but they will be tempted to take it with less than 18 hours before transfer deadline.

If Osimhen signs for Chelsea, it would likely be a long-term contract, just like the other at the club, so they can stay in line with the financial fair play rules for UEFA and the Premier League.
