Paris Saint-Germain have made a significant contract offer to Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman, potentially positioning him among the highest-earning Nigerian footballers in Europe, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Ligue 1 giants have proposed a salary of €4.5 million per season, a substantial increase from the €1.8 million per season he currently earns with the Serie A club, according to GFNI.
Lookman, who requested to be excluded from Atalanta’s squad for their match against Lecce, is well aware of PSG’s interest.
While the French club has yet to make direct contact with Atalanta or submit a formal bid, they have reached out to the player’s representatives, signaling serious intent.
Atalanta, however, are holding firm, demanding a transfer fee of at least €40 million for the former Fulham star.
If the move materialises, Lookman’s new salary at PSG would still place him among the lower earners at the club, where many players command salaries exceeding €5 million annually.
For example, Ousmane Dembélé tops the list with a gross pay of €20 million, followed by stars like Lucas Hernández, Marquinhos, Milan Skriniar, and Achraf Hakimi.
Despite this, the proposed salary would significantly elevate Lookman’s earnings compared to his compatriots.
In Ligue 1, Terem Moffi earns just under €1 million per year at OGC Nice, while Moses Simon takes home €2.4 million annually at Nantes, according to Capology.
In the Premier League, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey earn £4.16 million and £2.34 million per year at Fulham, respectively. Even in Serie A, only a few Nigerians, such as AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze (€5.13 million) and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen (€12.82 million), earn more.
This potential move could mark a significant milestone in Lookman’s career and further elevate his status among Nigeria’s elite footballers in Europe.
