Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has ignited fresh transfer speculation after hinting at a potential move for Victor Osimhen from Napoli to Chelsea, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen, who is currently at the center of intense transfer rumours, may be edging closer to a high-profile switch to Stamford Bridge.
The Napoli talisman has been linked with several top European clubs, but Ogu’s recent comments suggest Chelsea could be his next destination, adding fuel to the ongoing discussions surrounding his future.
The former Akwa United youth player took to his social media page to echo Fabrizio Romano’s famous “Here we go” phrase, widely recognised as a signal of an imminent transfer deal.
Ogu’s post, which reads, “[Victor] Osimhen to Chelsea. Here we go,” has garnered significant attention and raised hopes among Chelsea fans of a potential move.
Osimhen has long expressed his ambition to play in the English Premier League, with many believing he would want to follow in the footsteps of his role model, Didier Drogba, who made his mark at Chelsea.
However, Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations have complicated Chelsea’s efforts to sign the Nigerian international, with the club struggling to meet Napoli’s €130 million asking price and Osimhen’s salary demands.
With Romelu Lukaku, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell—three of Chelsea’s highest earners—linked with exits this summer, the club may soon be in a position to finance Osimhen’s transfer.
Moreover, Ogu and Osimhen share a close friendship, suggesting that Ogu may have some inside knowledge about the striker’s transfer situation.
