20-year-old Nigerian footballer Paul Julius, who recently joined Enosis Neon Paralimni FC, has tragically passed away following a car accident in Protaras, Famagusta District, Soccernet.ng reports.

The promising young striker had signed with ENP just three weeks ago, eager to make his mark on the Cypriot football scene. Sadly, his dreams were cut short by the fateful accident, which has left the football community in deep mourning.

In an emotional statement, Enosis Neon Paralimni FC expressed their profound grief at the loss of their player, who had shown remarkable resilience and determination despite the challenges he faced in his short life.

“It is with deep sadness and pain that we express our sincere condolences on the unexpected loss of our footballer Paul Julius,” the club’s statement read. “The tragic news of his death has shocked us all. Despite the hardships and sufferings he faced to join our family, he remained steadfast and determined to fulfill his goals. His memory will live on in our hearts, and his absence will be felt. We are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.”

The football world has been quick to rally in support, with several Greek clubs sending their condolences. APOEL Football Club, one of Cyprus’s most prominent teams, expressed their sorrow over the tragic loss.

“APOEL FOOTBALL (PODOSFAIRO) LTD expresses its deepest condolences to the family of ENP and the relatives of football player Paul Julius who was killed in a car accident this morning. He was only 20 years old…His memory is eternal,” the club wrote.
