Super Falconets invitee, Simone Reilly, has expressed her long-held dream to do the colours of the Nigerian national football team, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Bohemian FC forward is among the 12 strikers invited by head coach Chris Musa Danjuma to the provisional squad ahead of the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
As she gears up for the prestigious youth tournament in Colombia, Reilly reflects on her journey and the immense pride she feels in wearing the green and white jersey.
“I am extremely delighted with my experience in the Falconets setup,” Reilly shared. “It has always been my dream to play for Nigeria. Despite being eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland, Nigeria has always been my first choice. I am working very hard to convince my coaches, and my goal is to make the final squad for the World Cup in Colombia.”
Nigeria will face stiff competition in Group D of the tournament, where they will contend with three-time winners Germany, Asian powerhouse Korea Republic, and South American representatives Venezuela.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in three Colombian cities from 31st August to 22nd September.
Born to an Irish father and a Nigerian mother, Reilly hopes to make a significant impact on the Nigerian team if selected for the final squad.
