Former Golden Eaglets midfielder Victor Ozor Okeke has joined former Swedish Allsvenskan champions Elfsborg from Tripple 44 Football Academy in Nigeria, Soccernet.ng reports.
Over the years, the Sweden or Norway route has proven to be a fruitful one for many Nigerian players looking to start their European sojourn. Most Nigerian players have often plied that route before breaking into the top leagues.
The latest on that list is 18-year-old midfielder Victor Okeke according to a recent report by Oluwashina Okeleji.
The youngster impressed while on international duty for Nigeria at the 2022 WAFU B U17 tournament. However, he has had to wait to get his break.
Victor penned a five-year deal with Elfsborg, but he will likely join the junior team before working his way up to the senior team. The youngster will have the guidance of an older Nigerian player in Ibrahim Buhari, who has been an important player for Elfsborg this season.
Elfsborg currently sit fifth in the Swedish Allsvenskan, 13 points behind leaders Malmo FF. With ten games left until the end of the current campaign, it is unlikely that they will push for the title unless something curious happens.
Unlike other leagues in Europe, the Allsvenskan operates with the calendar year.
