Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored a vital goal for Rangers in their slim 2-1 victory over Motherwell at the Ibrox Stadium on Saturday, Soccernet.ng reports.
After scoring for Rangers in midweek in their UEFA Champions League qualifiers fixture against Dynamo Kyiv, Dessers returned to action with Rangers on Sunday. The Gers were looking to claim their first win of the season against Motherwell after droppping points at Hearts.
Rangers had a dream start, as they scored after just 13 minutes of play, courtesy of Dessers. The Super Eagles star reacted quickest to a knock down from Mohammed Diomande in the box and simply flicked the ball in the net to make it 1-0.
However, Rangers’ lead was short-lived, as Motherwell pulled one back after an own goal from Robin Propper in the 17th minute.
Nonetheless, Rangers reclaimed their lead in the 24th minute, after a strike from Vaclav Cerny. The Gers had more opportunities than Motherwell, but they were quite wasteful in front of goal.
The second half went the same way, with Rangers creating many chances, but they failed to convert. Eventually the game ended 1-0 to Rangers.
Next for the Gers is their UEFA Champions League qualifiers against Dynamo Kyiv at the Ibrox Stadium. Dessers will be looking to provide the goals to help his side advance.
