Saudi Arabian side Al Ahli are planning a double swoop for Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman and Ivan Toney this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Lookman has grown immensely at Atalanta in the past two seasons. He arrived at the club in 2022 after struggling to pin down a shirt at Leicester City and RB Leipzig.
However, since he has shown his ability in the past two seasons. Two seasons ago, he registered 15 goals and eight assists for Atalanta. But it was last season that Europe finally took notice of his talent.
Lookman scored a hattrick for Atalanta to help them defeat Bayer Leverkusen in the final of last season’s Europa League. Following the 26-year-old’s performances, some top clubs from abroad have been linked with him.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and PSG have reported had talks about signing Lookman, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.
Meanwhile, recall that Soccernet.ng had previously reported that Saudi-based side Al Ahli were interested in acquiring his services.
Now, in a recent development, per Deadline Day, Ah Ahli are scheming to unite a deadly front trio that would see Lookman partner with Ivan Toney and Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez already joined Al Ahli last year, but they would have to sign Lookman and Toney in two separate deals this summer. Atalanta will only allow their star player leave if they get a bid around €70 million.
Also, Toney has attracted interest from Arsenal, but the talks have not materialized as the North Londoners also have Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres in their sights.
It would be a tough heist for Al Ahli to pull off, but if they can pay the right price, they could get both Toney and Lookman this summer.
