Why Nigeria’s Dele-Bashiru will miss Lazio’s clash with Trapani after two-goal outing vs Auronzo

Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is set to miss SS Lazio’s second friendly match of their pre-season campaign this afternoon, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Biancocelesti are scheduled to face Trapani today, Wednesday, July 18, at the Stadio Rodolfo Zandegiacomo in Auronzo di Cadore as they step up preparations for the 2024-25 season.

Only a few days ago, Lazio strolled to a dominant 23-0 win over ninth-tier Italian side Auronzo FC, with Dele-Bashiru scoring two goals and assisting another.

The Nigeria international would have looked forward to a repeat performance when Marco Baroni’s men take on Serie C club, Trapani.

The 23-year-old midfield ace will hope he can shake off the problem before Lazio takes to the pitch next week to face Triestina and Hansa Rostock.

However, reports from TMW suggest that Dele-Bashiru will be sidelined as he is struggling with an injury to his left adductor.

Dele-Bashiru only joined SS Lazio on July 6 after the Italian side paid Hatayspor €2 million to get him on a season-long loan. The deal, however, placed obligations on Lazio to sign the former Sheffield Wednesday star permanently at the end of his loan spell.

Lazio, who finished 7th in the Italian Serie A last term, will kick off their league campaign this season with a home clash against Venezia.
