Why Ndidi easily renewed with Leicester despite interest from Sevilla, Trabzonspor, and Galatasaray

Super Eagles Wilfred Ndidi penned a three-year deal with Leicester City to extend his stay at the King Power Stadium till 2027

Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, has revealed why it was an easy decision to sign a new contract with Leicester City, despite interest from several other clubs, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Nigerian international recently committed to a new deal with the English Premier League newcomers, extending his stay at the King Power Stadium until June 30, 2027.

Ndidi had been linked with moves to clubs such as Sevilla, Juventus, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor, all of which were interested in securing his services to bolster their squads.

Speaking after his contract renewal with the Foxes, Ndidi explained that his family’s settled life in Leicester played a significant role in his decision.

“It’s really amazing to be a part of this journey going forward. It was quite an easy decision because, as I said, my family is settled here. My daughter’s going to school; it’s easy and relaxed. I know my family is sorted, and I can just focus on football,” he told the club’s official website.

Ndidi’s contract, along with that of his compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho, expired in June. However, while Ndidi has opted to stay with Leicester, Iheanacho is seeking a new club despite the appointment of new manager Steve Cooper.

Ndidi is looking forward to contributing to Leicester City’s success as they prepare for upcoming preseason matches against Shrewsbury, Augsburg, and Lens.
